However, the US and few other countries are able to control it till a certain extent.Factories use harmful organic, inorganic, radioactive, acidic and basic chemicals which after processing become more harmful.
Water and the garbage containing these pollutants are finally poured into the running water which directly affects the living organisms surviving under the water. Thus, marine animals and plants face a direct negative effect by this act.
Pathogens, insecticides, and herbicides along with other chemicals come under organic water pollutants. Along with various industries, hospitals are responsible for water pollution. Various drugs, used syringes, and chemicals are disposed into water after use. Petroleum hydrocarbons such as fuels, diesel, gasoline and motor oils have a hazardous effect on water.
Under inorganic pollutants, heavy metals, raw resin pellets, sulfur dioxide and other by-products come first.
Some solid wastes, detergents and excess of hot water used in manufacturing units are also causes of water pollution. Few industries use excess of cold water, which decreases the water temperature, which again is detrimental to flora and fauna living in the water.
Even if the water is filtered, it does not become as pure to be used for drinking and cooking purposes.
Nuclear power plants and scientific laboratories are also responsible for it. Uranium and thorium are few radioactive elements which affect the marine life as well as plants in the water.
